This week has been stressful for meteorologists. Icelandic weather has been up to its shenanigans and given us insane winds, floating temperatures, and lots of rain and snow. The whole country was under a yellow warning mainly due to very strong winds and flooding.

The Icelandic MET Office warned about the rising temperatures, in some areas, throughout the week, leading to heavy rain and the possibility of flooding. The constant and abundant rainfall lead to the rising of the Hörgá and Héraðsvötn rivers, but, fortunately, no roads were flooded, according to the Road Administration.

Even though the west of country felt temperatures up to 11º last Tuesday, the north was gifted with temperatures going down to a brutal -23.4ºc, in the Mývatn area. However, in the same area, the temperature went up to 5.9ºc, making up a 29.3ºc fluctuation in three days.

The winds went up to 26 meters per second, and have today caused a delay in domestic flights. But don’t worry, all international flights are operating normally, so you can still leave the country for a less windy climate.

The warning that was colouring the whole country yellow is supposed to be lifted this afternoon, However, make sure to check the updates on the weather here.
